Privacy Policy
ScopeCheck is provided by Dashient Ltd. Dashient Ltd is the data controller for personal data processed through ScopeCheck, which means we decide how and why it is used. This notice explains what we collect, why, and your rights under UK GDPR.
Our registered office is 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. To ask about your personal data or exercise your rights, email [email protected] or write to our registered office, marked “ScopeCheck privacy”.
For help with your account or a report, contact [email protected]. Please avoid sending full quotes, passwords or payment details unless needed to resolve your request.
What we collect and why
- Account details — email address, name and sign-in credentials (including from Google sign-in). Used to create and secure your account. Legal basis: contract.
- Quotes and job details — text, PDFs and photos you upload, job location and preferences. These may include contractor names and your address. Used to produce your reports. Legal basis: contract.
- Reports and job lists — the comparisons and job lists saved to your account. Legal basis: contract.
- Purchase records — which plan you bought and how many comparisons you have. Legal basis: contract and legal obligation.
- Emails we send — account emails (confirmation, password reset), service emails about your purchases, reports, re-check requests and expiring comparisons. Legal basis: contract. Unfinished-preview reminder emails are not sent.
- Technical and usage data — IP address, device and browser information, logs and error reports. Used for security, fraud prevention and to improve the service. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Support messages — what you send us when you get in touch. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Website analytics — if you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd), loaded through Google Tag Manager, to understand how the site is used: pages visited, device type, approximate location and how people find us. It stays off unless you accept. Legal basis: consent. You can withdraw consent any time via Cookie settings in the footer.
- Advertising measurement — if you allow marketing cookies, Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd, for Facebook and Instagram) and Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd), loaded through Google Tag Manager, receive the pages you visit, device and browser details, cookie identifiers and events such as starting a free preview, opening checkout or completing a purchase (with the plan price). We use this to measure our adverts and to show ScopeCheck adverts to past visitors. We never send them your email address, name, quotes or report content. It stays off unless you allow it. Legal basis: consent. You can withdraw consent any time via Cookie settings in the footer.
- Guest comparisons — if you start without an account, your comparison is stored against a temporary anonymous account and deleted after 30 days unless you sign up. We keep a one-way hash of your IP address for up to 60 days, only to prevent misuse of the free preview. We never store the IP address itself.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host our app and database, and the AI provider that analyses your quotes to create reports. They act on our instructions.
- Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for selling our plans, payments, tax compliance and invoicing. Paddle processes your payment details under its own privacy notice.
- Advertising partners — Meta and Google, only if you allow marketing cookies, as described above. They also use this data under their own privacy policies.
- Professional advisers such as lawyers and accountants, where needed.
- Authorities where required by law.
- People you share a report with — if you create a share link, anyone with it can read that report, including evidence excerpts and prices you enter, until you stop sharing. They cannot access your original uploaded quote text or other reports through that link. Copies they have already saved cannot be recalled.
International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, quotes and reports while your account is open. You can delete reports at any time. When you close your account, we delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except purchase records we must keep for tax and accounting purposes (usually 6 years).
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls so only you can read your reports, and limited staff access.
Cookies
ScopeCheck uses essential browser storage for sign-in and account security. With your permission, we also use optional analytics and marketing cookies. Google sign-in and Paddle checkout may also use storage on their own services. See our Cookies Policy for details and how to manage it.
Your rights
You can delete your account at any time from your Account page.
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of your data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. We will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
